What agents actually want from back-office software

We asked 200 agents what makes them love (or quit) a brokerage's tech stack. Here's what they told us.

What we asked, and who answered

We surveyed 200 working agents across small and mid-size brokerages. The answers were less about features and more about friction — agents don't want "powerful," they want fast.

Fewer clicks to a closed file

The top complaint wasn't missing functionality — it was the number of screens between starting a transaction and submitting it. Every extra click is a tax on your retention.

Tell me what's wrong, once

Agents want clear, specific rejections — not "see notes." Software that explains what's missing in the same place the agent uploaded it removes 80% of the email back-and-forth.

Show me my money

A visible commission statement — even a draft one — beats a quarterly summary every time. Agents who can see what they've earned this month don't ask the broker for it.
