Resident Realty Chooses Paperless Pipeline For Reliability And Security

Resident Realty was founded in 2000 by Craig Plantz. Craig started in the real estate industry in 1992 and worked for several companies throughout his career before opening his own brokerage. 

When he started his company, he knew he wanted to do things differently. He understood that agents had to split commission fees and often ended up losing large sums. 

So, he decided to set up his brokerage differently. “We barely charge our agents,” he says. At Resident Realty, commission is not split between agents and the company. Instead, there is only a transaction fee. 

As a result of this transaction fee model, agents are able to adjust their commission however they see fit.

When the company started over 23 years ago, they were the first to use this brokerage model.

Craig says his model is the reason he now has 600 agents in Colorado and more than 40 in Texas. Resident Realty also recently opened in Arizona and has big plans to enter 200 different markets across the country in the next few years.

What Was Resident Realty Looking For in a Software Solution?

Craig says he had plenty of software and back-office tools in play when he started his business. But he never felt they were secure enough. “I wasn’t comfortable that I could maintain the security properly,” he says.

He was also looking for a system that was affordable and reliable, two factors that are really important to him.

Craig says the other platforms he explored were extremely expensive and didn’t offer any additional functionality. 

He mentions that being able to use different templates for each of his markets is extremely useful and helps make his operations seamless.

“I’m very happy with your product, and I’m happy with the customer service,” he says.

We asked Craig what advice he’d give to people who are searching for the right real estate software, especially new brokers. He said his pointers are always the same:

  • Don’t buy immediately. Look at multiple options.
  • Consider price, but prioritize functionality.
  • Look for excellent customer service, you’ll need it.
